"Mums"

in Texas they mean something completely different than they do in the UK.
Here they are, in my opinion, UGLY, overly big, over priced (anything from $60 - $105) rosette type things with ribbons on that the girls wear during "Homecoming" week.  Apparently boys wear smaller ones on their arms.  As you can imagine the Teenager is NOT happy that he may have to wear one and has decided that he IS NOT under any circumstances going to!!

What do you think?  Pretty?  Ugly?  or both?!!  Me I'm going with both :0)

  1. they are like a loyalty badge aren't they? to show that you love your school, because no one would know if you didn't make yourself ridiculous. You could start a rumour that they are just official gang emblems and make the children have a gang mentality. I wonder if that would be put down to your "Brit" humor

    1. I've been told that a boy will ask a girl to the homecoming dance and will buy/make a "mum" for her to wear. She will then make a matching "garter" for him. Not really sure.

  2. I always thought Mums were the favourite Autumn flower or at least the British version of Mom.
